DESCRIPTION:
EPW - Longines, Swiss, WWII era Japanese military chronograph with 30-minute register, 52mm, chrome-plated nickel OF original SKS case with Japanese military contract markings to rear, white enamel DS impressed dial, luminescent hands, SW-SS, lever escapement, 17J, fausses-cĂ´tes pattern nickel damascene, s#6108729. An excellent example of this scarce World War II military timepiece, in far better condition than most we encounter.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, chronograph with good stop, start and reset function, minute register with inconsistent function as it tends to reset somewhere left of appropriate position and as hand frequently jumps forward or backward one minute immediately upon activation of chronograph, overhaul needed for normalized minute register function, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces with some scattered fine scratches, visible surface rust to some areas of perimeter chronograph elements and to head of stem detent screw, some finish loss to central chronograph bridge; dial with grouping of perimeter hls between 9 and 10, edge flake under bezel at 6; fine hands; case shows very little wear, scratch to bezel near 6, scattered pinprick nicks and fine scratches to band, no dents, excellent engraving detail, numerous scratches to cuvette from slipped past openings, cuvette with ding near center and areas of dark tarnish; tight bow, crown shows little wear; glass crystal with large internal edge flake at 11, glue excess at its seat.
